quick note: Desmond is wearing a wedding ring on his left hand when he talks to Jack on the plane. That probably means in the “LA X” timeline, he married Penny, and went against Widmore’s wishes. Here’s the question: Does Widmore exist in this timeline?

I don’t think he would have gone against Widmore, tho. The LAXers timeline is different. And with the Island underwater…Widmore’s motivations in life in general would be different.
