LOST Apollo Candy Bars on EBay

A few weeks ago, ABC went to several places in the country to give away Apollo Candy Bars, which is all part of the “LOST Experience” they’ve been running all summer. The LOST Experience, for those of you who haven’t been following it, is a series of websites, live events, and other activities that….. well, basically give people something to do while they’re waiting for LOST to start up again.

The fake website that ABC set up for the Apollo candy bars told people to meet at certain locations to pick up candy bars. At at least one event, they showed pilots for two of the shows they are going to start this fall: “Ugly Betty” and “Men in Trees”, but no Apollo candy bars.

The person I spoke to about this didn’t hang around until the candy bars showed up, so I’m guessing that some marketing genius thought it was a good idea to make people sit in front of the new shows before giving people their “rewards”.

This might be a way of getting those wasted hours back, or it just might be a way to get some money while they can (maybe both), but it looks like people are selling Apollo Candy Bars on EBay.

LOST: Another new website and more Hanso Foundation Website clues

If you go to the Hanso Foundations “Electromagnetic Research Initiative” project, you’ll notice that the image in the lower right of the earth, there’s a date of: October 62, 9291. You’ll also notice that there’s an “X,Y” coordinate in the upper left hand corner of that image. If you move the mouse so X: goes to 629 and Y: goes to 291, (which is the center of the diagram to the right of the earth picture) and click it, a new image appears. Click on that.

This will take you to the new website: http://www.letyourcompassguideyou.com/. Now, click somewhere on the green part of the screen, and press the “TAB” key on your keyboard. A new image will appear around the compass. Go ahead and click on “108”.

You’ll be taken to a new screen, and the question “Are you one of the good ones?” comes up. Press “Y” on your keyboard.

You’ll be taken to a directory of files. Only two of the directories are open, and contain a few files to look at: hmcintyr and pthompso

Click in the “hmcintyr” link and then click the “mail” link. From there, click the 139191991471518711419.jpg link. That will take you to a rather large picture. If you examine the picture closely, you’ll see the words “The Mouth Piece” near the Buddha statue.

You can also see this same message in the pthompso directory, but in a different form:

Click on the pthompso directory, then “mail” then “Inbox”. You’ll notice a series of ones and zeros. Go to the URL indicated in the mail header: http://www.adcott.net/binary/ and put that series of numbers into the bottom box and click “Decode”

It decodes to the words “The Mouth Piece”.

Now, what does “The Mouth Piece” have to do with anything?

Go to Hugh McIntyre’s Bio on The Hanso Foundation website. You’ll notice his picture is missing, and there’s a password box there. Type in “The Mouthpiece” there, and you’ll see an animation.

You can also see an animation that’s on YouTube (access via McIntyre’s area) at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pna5kuVZDXE

LOST: Hanso Foundation Press Release

The Hanso Foundation has issued a press release that mentions to distruption occuring on their website.

Highlight the whole page, by right clicking and selecting “Select all”. If you do, you’ll see a blank link at the bottom of the page. Click that link. You’ll be sent to http://persephone.thehansofoundation.org/. That page has the numbers:

72 65 83 32 87 73 78 32 72 79 83 84 32 80 67 32 73 78 32 78 73 76 32 85 82 71 69 46 32 56 44 32 110 111 116 32 49 32 97 110 100 32 54 46

This decodes to ASCII format characters: HAS WIN HOST PC IN NIL URGE. 8, not 1 and 6.

Lost game: Who is Persephone?

My Lost puzzle game page mentions “Persephone”. That’s the name of the person who’s trying to communicate with you on the Hanso Foundation website. Who is Persephone?

In Greek mythology, Persephone is the name of the daughter of Demeter and Zeus. She was so beautiful that everyone wanted her, including Hades, the king of the underworld. He opened the earth, and took her. Demeter was so upset by this, the earth became infertile. After a long battle with Zeus, Hades finally gave in to the demand to return Persephone. Hades gave her a pomegranate which she later ate from. Eating that bound her to Hades, where she had to spend 1/3 of her time. Demeter caused winter to happen during this period.

Persephone is the queen of the underworld. Her name means “She who destroys the light”.
