How do you kick off a debate among a panel of judges from North America and Europe?<\/p>\n

Just ask the judges about Jack Bauer<\/a>.   <\/p>\n

A big debate kicked off when a judge at a legal conference in Ottawa said<\/p>\n

“Thankfully, security agencies in all our countries do not subscribe to the mantra ‘What would Jack Bauer do?’ “<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That prompted a response from Judge Antonin Scalia to respond<\/p>\n

\n

“Are you going to convict Jack Bauer?” Judge Scalia challenged his
\nfellow judges. “Say that criminal law is against him? ‘You have the
\nright to a jury trial?’ Is any jury going to convict Jack Bauer? I
\ndon’t think so. <\/p>\n

“So the question is really whether we believe in these absolutes. And ought we believe in these absolutes.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

That kicked off a big debate on Jack’s tactics in the show “24”.<\/p>\n
