24 \u2013 Two Days Later \u2013 Hour 10 <\/p>\n
The following takes place between 4 am and 5 am <\/p>\n
4:00 am \u2013 Everyone looks around. Morris says, \u201cYou know, every other time this happened, we were somewhere completely different. This looks the same, except the armored car is gone.\u201d <\/p>\n
Chloe points out, \u201cSo is the guy who was in that car.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bill interjects, \u201cand that pig that just went by with wires in its mouth.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jack says, \u201cHis name was Arnold.\u201d<\/p>\n
Chloe says, \u201cWell, where is Arnold now? Did he drive off with that pig?\u201d<\/p>\n
Jack tells her, \u201cArnold IS the pig. The guy\u2019s name was \u2018Eb\u2019\u201d.<\/p>\n
Morris asks, \u201cHis name was \u2018Eb\u2019? What kind of name is that?\u201d<\/p>\n
Chloe says, \u201cOh, so says \u2018Morris\u2019! What kind of name is \u2018Morris\u2019? You sound like you could be in a cat food commercial!\u201d<\/p>\n
Morris says, \u201cYeah, and I\u2019m sure there were just a million little girls named \u2018Chloe\u2019 when you were a child in school\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
Jack interrupts, \u201cSTOP IT! Both of you! We can\u2019t just stand here.\u201d He points down the road. \u201cThey were headed in that direction. Let\u2019s go that way.\u201d<\/p>\n
4:03 am \u2013 Back at CTU, Fenster\u2019s telephone rings. He answers it, and it\u2019s Nadia. She asks, \u201cWhere\u2019s that report? I asked for it hours ago!\u201d<\/p>\n
Fenster says, \u201cWe\u2019re getting that information now. We\u2019ve tracked down where they were about ten hours ago. The data will be up on the screen in a minute, and I\u2019ll get it printed out and on your desk in a few minutes.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nadia says, \u201cYou know, this one better have a cover sheet. Did you get that memo?\u201d<\/p>\n
4:04 am \u2013 Jack, Bill, Chloe and Morris head down the dirt road. The cornfields on either side of them have given way to trees. They continue along the road while they talk.<\/p>\n
Chloe tells Jack, \u201cWhen we were in the back of that armored car, I overheard one of them talking about \u2018obtaining item\u2019. There was a box of stuff in the back with us.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jack asks, \u201cWhat kind of \u2018stuff\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n
Chloe says, \u201cIt looked completely useless to me. There were some coconut halves, a baseball, and a glass dome with an old-fashioned stock ticker. It didn\u2019t look like anything valuable, that\u2019s for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n
Morris says, \u201cI just had a terrible thought. What\u2026. What if we\u2019re chasing after garage sale addicts?\u201d<\/p>\n
Bill rolls his eyes, \u201cGarage sale addicts don\u2019t break into people\u2019s homes to steal documents out of a safe. Garage sale addicts don\u2019t shoot at you. Garage sale addicts don\u2019t wire cars with explosives.\u201d<\/p>\n
Morris says, \u201cYou just don\u2019t go to the kind of garage sales that I do\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n
4:06 am – Jack asks Chloe, \u201cDid they say anything else?\u201d<\/p>\n
Chloe says, \u201cThey seemed pretty shaken up about what happened in Miami. The guy in charge was upset that they couldn\u2019t get the item they were looking for. That was the guy you thought was \u2018Darth Vader\u2019. I still can\u2019t believe you thought it was \u2018Darth Vader\u2019\u201d. She shakes her head.<\/p>\n
They continue to walk in silence until Bill points at something in the distance. \u201cHey! There are some people over there!\u201d<\/p>\n
They look over. A man and young boy are fishing at the side of a lake some distance away from the road. The young boy throws a rock into the water.<\/p>\n
Jack says, \u201cLet\u2019s just keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n
4:09 am \u2013 Fenster comes into Nadia\u2019s office at CTU and puts a pile of papers on her desk. He says, \u201cIntelligence indicates that a movie theater exploded in the last known vicinity of Jack. We have reason to believe he was having dinner with Chloe, Morris and Bill.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nadia looks at him, exasperated. \u201c\u2019Intelligence indicates\u2019? \u2018We have reason to believe\u2026\u2019? Quit the mumbo-jumbo, and tell me where you found this out.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fenster looks down at his shoes. \u201c\u2026..Internet news sites\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nadia slams her fist on the table. Then she lifts it up, shakes it a few times and says, \u201cOw!\u201d She remembers that Fenster is standing there in front of her. She points at him, \u201cNow look! You\u2019ve had hours to find out what\u2019s happened to Jack. Now all we know is that Chloe, Morris and Bill were with him. I want you to go back out there and find out what happened\u2026.without resorting to news stories on the Internet! You know what kind of people are out there! The next thing you\u2019ll be telling me is that you\u2019re looking for information on blogs!\u201d<\/p>\n
Fenster says, \u201cWell, as a matter of\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
Nadia yells, \u201cOUT!\u201d<\/p>\n
4:12 am -A van with a group of people dressed in black pulls away from a country gas station. One of them still has a black mask on, and is giving orders to head into town. The disguised voice sounds electronic, \u201cI don\u2019t want any screw ups! We\u2019ve got to handle this just the right way!\u201d<\/p>\n
Commercial<\/p>\n
4:17 am – Jack, Chloe, Morris and Bill continue to walk down the dirt road. Morris asks, \u201cWhy would they be taking things like that? It\u2019s not like the things they\u2019re taking are valuable. It\u2019s not like they would know where they would be\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bill says, \u201cUnless\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
Jack says, \u201cUnless\u2026 what? What\u2019s with the dramatic pauses?\u201d<\/p>\n
Bill says, \u201cWell, they\u2019re dramatic! I\u2019ve hardly said a thing for the last nine hours, and now that I finally have something to say, I wanted to be dramatic!\u201d<\/p>\n
Chloe mutters, \u201cThis better be good\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
Bill continues, \u201cWhat if those items really are valuable. What if the people we are chasing know exactly what they\u2019re looking for, and where they\u2019ll be able to find it?\u201d<\/p>\n
Morris looks unconvinced, \u201cOh, come on! How is a baseball valuable? An antique stock ticker? They stole coconuts for crying out loud! That\u2019s completely unbelievable!\u201d<\/p>\n
Chloe says, \u201cOh, and hopping around from place to place, is believable? We hop from Miami to the middle of \u2026.wherever this is, and that\u2019s believable?\u201d<\/p>\n
Morris thinks about this for a moment. \u201cWell, you do have a point about that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jack says, \u201cI\u2019m not sure if Bill\u2019s right or not, but it\u2019s the only thing we really have to go on right now. Let\u2019s keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n
4:21 am – The van pulls up outside of a barber shop, which is right next to a court house. Outside of the barber shop, a woman is talking to a deputy. Two men get out of the van and go into the barbershop as a customer is leaving.<\/p>\n
The man says, \u201cOh, hi Barney! Thelma Lou! Did you hear? There are some real rock and roll musicians staying at the boarding house! They\u2019re from England!\u201d<\/p>\n
Thelma Lou says, \u201cHello, Howard! That\u2019s very interesting! Have you talked to them?\u201d<\/p>\n
Howard says, \u201cOh no, I haven\u2019t.\u201d He lowers his voice, \u201cI think they\u2019re HIPPIES! They have long hair and everything!\u201d<\/p>\n
Barney says, \u201cMaybe I should go over and\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
Thelma Lou says, \u201cNow, Barney! They\u2019re not hurting anyone. Just leave them alone.\u201d She turns to Howard, \u201cI was just telling Barney how delighted the children are that Barney is helping out with the school play!\u201d<\/p>\n
Barney sniffs, hikes up his belt, and says \u201cWell, you know, Thelma Lou, I was going to be an actor before I dedicated my life to law enforcement. There was a lot of interest in me, let me tell you!\u201d<\/p>\n
Thelma Lou says, \u201cReally? Barney, I had no idea!\u201d<\/p>\n
Barney replies, \u201cYes, indeed! I was this close to being in the ads in the back of those comic books.\u201d<\/p>\n
Howard says, \u201cI remember that! It was for those Charles Atlas ads where the bully on the beach kicks sand in the face of that little guy.\u201d<\/p>\n
4:24 am – Barney gets agitated, \u201cNow, now\u2026never you mind about that! Thelma Lou, when do I pick up my costume?\u201d<\/p>\n
Thelma Lou says, \u201cThey\u2019re just about finished with it. They were just deciding on a color.\u201d<\/p>\n
Barney looks surprised, \u201cA color? Dinosaurs are green! Everyone knows that! How am I going to look if I\u2019m not green?\u201d<\/p>\n
Thelma Lou says, \u201cNow, Barney, they ran out of green painting the rest of the set. They\u2019re going to paint your costume purple.\u201d<\/p>\n
Now Barney is REALLY agitated. \u201cPurple? PURPLE? Who ever heard of such a thing?\u201d<\/p>\n
Howard says, \u201cYou never know, Barney. I think it\u2019ll be quite popular with the children.\u201d<\/p>\n
Commercial <\/p>\n
4:29 am – Jack, Chloe, Morris and Bill finally reach a service station. Jack asks, \u201cWe\u2019re trying to get to the nearest town so we can rent a car.\u201d<\/p>\n
The man looks confused about this, \u201cRent a car? I don\u2019t know about that, but the town is just up the road a piece. Just keep going, you can\u2019t miss it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Chloe holds up a bottle. \u201cThis soft drink costs fifteen cents!\u201d<\/p>\n
The man looks ashamed, \u201cYeah, I\u2019m sorry about that. We had to raise our prices, on account of the prices went up in Mount Pilot. That\u2019s where we get \u2018em from.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jack says, \u201cNever mind that, Chloe. We have to get to town to see if we can track those guys down.\u201d<\/p>\n
The man asks, \u201cWhat guys are you talking about?\u201d<\/p>\n
Jack replies, \u201cWe\u2019re from the federal government. The men we\u2019re after are wanted criminals. They are dressed in black\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n
The man says, \u201cShazam! Them fellers just drove out of here a little while ago! They asked directions to town too!\u201d<\/p>\n
Jack says, \u201cThat\u2019s them! Now this is really important! We need to get to town as quickly as possible! Do you have truck we can borrow?\u201d<\/p>\n
4:34 am – Inside of the barber shop, the two men are talking to the barber. One man is tall, and the other is short and bald.<\/p>\n
The tall man says, \u201cSo, do you a lot of business? Maybe you should \u2026. Buy some \u2018advertising\u2019 from us\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
Floyd says, \u201cWha? Ooo! Hmm! Never had to do advertising before. Been mostly word of mouth.\u201d<\/p>\n
The bald man says, \u201cYeah, we\u2019d be pretty happy to make sure that nothing happened to this place. You can\u2019t let word get around that someone bad happened\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
Floyd says, \u201cAdvertising that would\u2026. Hmmm? What? What did you just say?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI said, you better make sure that nothing happens to this place, you know\u2026. Like THIS!\u201d<\/p>\n
Both men pull cans out of their bags and start throwing paint all over Floyd\u2019s barbershop\u2026and on Floyd!<\/p>\n
The tall man steps forward in a very threatening way, \u201cListen old man, you\u2019re going to have to start to pay us right now!\u201d<\/p>\n
4:38 am – Barney happens to look into the window while this is happening, and rushes into the barber shop.<\/p>\n
Commercial<\/p>\n
4:44 am – The gas station attendant drives a pickup truck into town, and stops in front of the court house. Jack and Chloe get out of the front of the truck, and Bill and Morris get out of the back of the truck. The English musicians from the boarding house are walking along, looking at the stores, unaware that anything has happened.<\/p>\n
The attendant says, \u201cWe should stop here and get Sheriff Taylor!\u201d A police car drives up right behind the pickup truck and stops. The attendant points, and says, \u201cThere he is now!\u201d<\/p>\n
Sheriff Taylor and a young boy get out of the car. Sheriff Taylor says, \u201cGomer! What\u2019s the matter? Who are all these people?\u201d<\/p>\n
Gomer says, \u201cAndy! These people said they\u2019re with the federal government. They\u2019re after dangerous criminals!\u201d<\/p>\n
Andy looks alarmed and turns to the little boy. \u201cOpie, I want you to go home to Aunt Bea. I have to take care of something. Run along, now.\u201d<\/p>\n
Opie replies, \u201cYes, Pa.\u201d He turns to Jack, \u201cGood luck finding those criminals!\u201d Opie leaves. <\/p>\n
Jack says, \u201cSheriff Taylor, I\u2019m Jack Bauer with CTU Los Angeles, we\u2019re on the trail of\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n
4:49 am – Barney walks out of the courthouse, and looks entirely smug with himself. \u201cNow, now! I\u2019ve got the situation completely under control.\u201d<\/p>\n
Andy says, \u201cNow wait a minute! What situation? What\u2019s this all about?\u201d<\/p>\n
Barney says, \u201cWell, you see Andy, I was out in front of Floyd\u2019s Barber Shop talking to Thelma Lou when these two guys drive up in that delivery van over there\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n
Andy looks in the direction Barney is pointing. \u201cWhat delivery van?\u201d<\/p>\n
Barney looks over, sees the delivery van isn\u2019t there anymore, and does a double-take. His voice goes at least an octave higher when he says, \u201cBut it was just right there!\u201d <\/p>\n
4:51 am – Barney runs down to Floyd\u2019s shop, and everyone follows. He yells, \u201cFloyd!\u201d Floyd comes out of the shop. \u201cFloyd! What happened? Where\u2019s that delivery truck?\u201d<\/p>\n
Floyd comes out of the barbershop. He\u2019s completely covered with pink paint. The musicians walk right up to Floyd just has he comes out of his barbershop. Floyd is completely covered in pink paint. One of them says, \u201cYou know, that would be a good name for a rock band!\u201d They cross the street.<\/p>\n
Barney says, \u201cFloyd! Where\u2019s that delivery truck?\u201d<\/p>\n
Floyd says, \u201cHmm? Wha\u2026. Delivery truck? What del\u2026 Hmmm? I don\u2019t know. It was here a minute ago.\u201d<\/p>\n
Barney looks concerned, \u201cAndy, you have to believe me. Their van was right here!\u201d <\/p>\n
Andy says, \u201cCalm down, calm down. Whose van are you talking about?\u201d<\/p>\n
Barney says, \u201cThose two men I arrested! They were trying to force Floyd to pay them money! They threw paint all over the barbershop!\u201d He leans close to Andy, \u201cThey thought they\u2019d come into a small town and push people around! Little did they know they\u2019d have Barney Fife to deal with!\u201d<\/p>\n
Andy says, \u201cNow, Barn\u2026. Calm down.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jack asks, \u201cWhere are these men?\u201d<\/p>\n
Barney says, \u201cWhat? Oh! I have them locked up! Come on! He runs back into the courthouse.\u201d<\/p>\n
4:54 am – Everyone follows. Inside the courthouse, Barney triumphantly points at the two men in the jail cell. \u201cYOU SEE?\u201d<\/p>\n
A man in an adjacent cell says, \u201cHey, Andy\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n
Andy says, \u201cHey, Otis.\u201d Andy turns back to Barney, \u201cNow I want you to explain what happened. Exactly what happened?\u201d <\/p>\n
Otis tries to interrupt again, \u201cAndy\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n
Andy says, \u201cOtis, not now\u2026 we\u2019re trying to\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n
There\u2019s loud explosion. The back of the wall to Otis\u2019 jail cell caves in, and Otis is knocked to the floor. Several men dressed in black with masks over their heads look into the cell as the smoke is clearing. One of them slaps another in the back of the head and says, \u201cYou got the wrong one!\u201d<\/p>\n
Barney hastily pulls out his gun. Jack yells, \u201cGet those guys! Here I need this!\u201d Jack takes the gun out of Barney\u2019s hand and says, \u201cFollow me!\u201d Everyone heads out of the courthouse and start to run around to the back. There\u2019s another explosion. The group reaches the back of the courthouse, and sees that another large hole has been made, this time in the back of the other jail cell. There\u2019s no one inside of it. <\/p>\n
4:57 am – They all stand there dumbfounded for a moment until Andy says, \u201cOtis!\u201d He runs into the other jail cell and turns Otis over. Otis starts to wake up. Everyone else comes in to see if Otis is OK. Andy asks, \u201cOtis! Are you alright?\u201d<\/p>\n
Otis blinks awake. \u201cAndy! What happened?\u201d<\/p>\n
Andy says, \u201cYou just rest here.\u201d<\/p>\n
Otis says, \u201cI remember! I was trying to tell you! One of those two guys grabbed something off of your desk when Barney brought them in!\u201d<\/p>\n
Chloe says, \u201cThey got something else!\u201d<\/p>\n
Barney says, \u201cYou mean they staged all that, just to get into the courthouse??\u201d<\/p>\n
4:58 am – There\u2019s loud squeal of tires somewhere outside. Jack says, \u201cThe terrorists!\u201d <\/p>\n
Jack runs down the alley, and sees the delivery van doing a U-turn, heading back in his direction. He points the gun right at the driver as the car comes driving right at him! Jack pulls the trigger! CLICK! Nothing happens! CLICK! CLICK! Nothing happens two more times! Jack dives out of the way just in time.<\/p>\n
4:59 am – There\u2019s a bright flash.<\/p>\n
Chloe, Morris and Bill are standing on a beach. There\u2019s no sign of Jack.<\/p>\n
