Variety is reporting Joss Whendon is working on a new series, Dollhouse, which will star Eliza Dushku (Faith, for you Buffy fans).
The series will be centered around how top-secret agents will be programmed with different personalities, abilities and memories for assignments, and then have all that wiped out after each mission, sent back to the “Dollhouse”, the lab where they wait for their next assignment. Dushku will play “Echo”, who starts to catch on to what’s happening and tries to find out who she was before all this started.
The show was just a spur of the moment idea that happened during a lunch between Whedon and Dushku. Dusku was asking for advice about how best to approach a development deal with Fox.
“It was a mistake!” Whedon says. “I sat down with her to talk about her options, and acted all sage, saying things backwards like Yoda and laying out what I thought she should do. But in the course of doing it, I accidentally made one up. I told it to her, and she said, ‘That’s exactly what I want to do.’ “
