Netflix Streaming on The Mac Arrives

mac
NetFlix has finally gotten streaming going for the Mac. It’s been available for the PC for quite some time now.

The other thing that’s been quietly happening is that Netflix has been getting their streaming software onto Blu-Ray DVD players, like the LG BD300 Network Blu-Ray Disc Player.

Netflix has been slowly adding DVDs that you can start watching over your computer or specially equipped DVD player, and they even have a separate device called the Roku (for $99!).

Big Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince Problems

Ain’t It Cool News has got a couple of MAJOR spoilers by people who’ve seen the nearly completed “Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince”, which was postponed until next summer.

I’ll let you read it from the link above – I will say that unless they studio fixes that movie, it’s going to be a major disappointment to die-hard fans.

Ghostbusters 3

Who ya gonna call? Well, Columbia called Lee Eisenberg, and Gene Stupnitsky to write a script for a new Ghostbusters movie staring the original cast!

Now, whether or not they’ll get the original cast remains to be seen, because of the terms:

No deals will be made with the original cast until the script is ready, but the gross percentage will certainly be an issue. Sony has a standing policy not to allow more than 25% of first dollar gross out the door.

So, why are people thinking that the originals might be back? From the same article:

The scribes just wrote “Year One,” a comedy that was directed by Ramis. Ramis with Aykroyd wrote the first two installments of the films. Ivan Reitman directed both the 1984 original and the sequel that was released in 1989. The close proximity between the writers and original Ghostbuster Ramis is evidence that the ghost chasers have sparked to the idea of returning.

Dark Tower Movie Coming

A movie of the Dark Tower series of novels from Stephen King is in the planning stages!

Damon Lindelof is interested in doing it, but says:

“And the idea of doing that at the same time Carlton (Cuse, co-producer) and I are bringing Lost to a close is simply not viable. There are always Dark Tower conversations, but the figuring out of what this will look like as a movie has not begun.”

He added: “If The Dark Tower were in the right hands, I would love to see seven movies executed just right. But you have to get people to see the first one to get them to come and see the second one.
