Want the inside info on Dharma Cookies?

Disk seven of the Season 2 Lost DVD set has bonus features and extras… including SECRET hidden features!

This easter egg is pretty easy to find. Click over to the “Phase 3” selection, and press “up” twice. The selection dot on the screen will move to a white folder, and clicking “OK” will show a short video of how they took eight hours to make 290 Dharma cookies for the show!

Hidden Features of the LOST Bonus disc from Best Buy

I, along with many other LOST fans, bought the LOST Season 2 Disc set from Best Buy today. I got home a little while ago, and immediately went to the Bonus disc. Since there are sometimes “Easter Eggs” (special bonus scenes) on DVDs, and since this is a LOST DVD, I figured that there was a pretty good chance there were some secret scenes on this disc. I was right!

Here are the two Easter Eggs I’ve found so far:

Do the following:

Go down to “What Kate Did” press left three times, and the dot will move to the right of the word “DID”. Pressing the “Select” key on your DVD remote will show a hidden scene between Rose and Hurley.

Go down to “Scissors” press left twice, down once, and the dot will move to the right of the word “Scissors”. Pressing the “Select” key on your DVD remote will show a blooper scene with Sawyer, Kate and Jack in which Jack trips.

Remember, these are only on the Best Buy bonus disc.

LOST: Live Together, Die Alone; Season Two Finale

SPOILERS AHEAD: If you haven’t watched the season finale of LOST, don’t read this until you have. The rest of this post is going to have a lot of spoilers.

Still reading? OK, you’ve been warned.

There sure were a lot of things going on in this episode. In typical LOST fashion, we learned a lot of things, and have questions about many more.

The first thing I’ll say was that my theory about Desmond being “in” on the whole Hanso/Dharma Initiative was wrong. There is a connection between Desmond and Charles Widmore’s daughter, however, and that was a surprise. Widmore, from what we’ve seen in previous shows, is a group of companies, doing at least medical supplies and construction. It seems as through Widmore might be the construction company for Hanso.

None of the predictions I made in my previous post were even addressed, other than how the plane went down. We found out that it wasn’t a bomb, or even a weapon. The plane went down because of an accident! It happened the day that Kelvin accidently died while fighting with Desmond, when the timer went down to zero.

Another thing we found out was that Henry Gale did indeed pull off an “Ana Lucia” by going into the enemy camp trying to find more information. “Mr Friendly” seemed to be the guy in charge before Henry showed up, but that’s changed.

One of the most surprising things was that they let Walt go with Michael! Now, I don’t think anyone that was watching thinks for a minute that “The Others” won’t try and get Walt and Michael back. One of the more interesting things that they said was the “We got more than we bargained for with Walt”. Did that me they couldn’t control him?

And of course, we found out what happens when the button isn’t pushed. Yikes.

There are many things that are completely up in the air, but in particular:

We have no idea of the fate of Eko and Locke. I sure hope those guys survived.

We still don’t know why Jack, Sawyer and Kate were taken.

That “explosion” that Desmond set off…what exactly did that do? Was it just masking the magnetic field so the island couldn’t be located? Was there some kind of shield around the island?

Is there really a sickness? Kelvin was obviously deceiving Desmond about that, but if that’s true, what had the French Woman witnessed that effected her companions.

LOST: Another new website and more Hanso Foundation Website clues

If you go to the Hanso Foundations “Electromagnetic Research Initiative” project, you’ll notice that the image in the lower right of the earth, there’s a date of: October 62, 9291. You’ll also notice that there’s an “X,Y” coordinate in the upper left hand corner of that image. If you move the mouse so X: goes to 629 and Y: goes to 291, (which is the center of the diagram to the right of the earth picture) and click it, a new image appears. Click on that.

This will take you to the new website: http://www.letyourcompassguideyou.com/. Now, click somewhere on the green part of the screen, and press the “TAB” key on your keyboard. A new image will appear around the compass. Go ahead and click on “108”.

You’ll be taken to a new screen, and the question “Are you one of the good ones?” comes up. Press “Y” on your keyboard.

You’ll be taken to a directory of files. Only two of the directories are open, and contain a few files to look at: hmcintyr and pthompso

Click in the “hmcintyr” link and then click the “mail” link. From there, click the 139191991471518711419.jpg link. That will take you to a rather large picture. If you examine the picture closely, you’ll see the words “The Mouth Piece” near the Buddha statue.

You can also see this same message in the pthompso directory, but in a different form:

Click on the pthompso directory, then “mail” then “Inbox”. You’ll notice a series of ones and zeros. Go to the URL indicated in the mail header: http://www.adcott.net/binary/ and put that series of numbers into the bottom box and click “Decode”

It decodes to the words “The Mouth Piece”.

Now, what does “The Mouth Piece” have to do with anything?

Go to Hugh McIntyre’s Bio on The Hanso Foundation website. You’ll notice his picture is missing, and there’s a password box there. Type in “The Mouthpiece” there, and you’ll see an animation.

You can also see an animation that’s on YouTube (access via McIntyre’s area) at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pna5kuVZDXE

Lost: “?” (The Question Mark Episode)

Spoilers ahead:

What a weird name for an episode. It sure was aptly named, though.

The biggest shocker of this episode to me was that we found out that the “psychic” that Claire went to see was a fraud by his own admission. If you’ve read what I’ve written in other parts of the blog, you know I have a theory that Dharma/Hanso has been doing medical experiments on folks without letting them know about it. I think this is another example of that.

Another theory I’ve had for some time now is that the people on Flight 815 were “placed” or “steered” to that flight by members of Dharma. Sun/Jin were sent onto that flight. Claire was, for sure, now that we know her “psychic” really really insisted that she get on that flight. If he were a fraud, what possible modivation would he have to get her on that flight?

I’ll give you a guess…. If Dharma was involved with bringing that girl back, and she needed some sort of recurring medical treatment to keep her healthy, perhaps Dharma/Hanso blackmailed the psychic to telling Claire what she was told. He had to
tell Claire to get on that plane, or Dharma would withold medical treatment for his daughter.

How they got her to go in the first place….that I’m not sure about. Was it a “forecast” using that Hanso number forecasting technology? Was the friend she was with “in” on the whole thing?

Of course, another theory might be that the parents that were going to adopt Claire’s child were part of Dharma/Hanso. They’d probably been following Claire around, saw that she went to a psychic and paid the guy a lot of money so they could get her on that plane.

All of this hinges on a really big problem: How the heck did they get that plane to crash? Was it a controlled crash? How could they possibly do something like that, and keep the real prize (Aaron) from gettin harmed?

Now, about that new Pearl Station.

First off, it was a bad bad idea for Locke to send that little map he drew through to that tube. Someone’s on the other end of that thing.

Did you notice the camera in the room with the televisions in it? Why have a camera on people that were supposed to be the observers? Why was it important to watch what was going on there?

It seemed to me that Dr. Candle (or whatever his name really is….I know he gave a different name on the video, I’m just going with “Dr Candle”), seemed to downplay the urgency of what was going on in the “experiments”. Now, by that I mean, in the film version of the video, he said it was REALLY important. In the video, he said that people had to observe the experiments, but it didn’t seem to be as urgent.

Now, let’s say you were trying to pull off something really big. Something so big, that if a lot of other people knew what was going on, it would comprimise the whole project. You figure out a way to isolate different parts of the project, make sure that each group doesn’t communicate with any of the other groups (if they even realize they exist), and even convince the people that are watching the whole thing that it’s all just an experiment. The people that were doing observations were only watching three weeks at a time, so it’s unlikely they could really grasp what was happening overall. Tell the observers that they have experiments that are going on, that they have to keep track of things, but don’t let them know the real importance.

I think that’s pretty plausible.

One thing continues to bug me, and this episode made it even worse. We’ve seen four of the six “stations”. One (the first one) is running pretty well, and has been for some time. Another (the medical hatch), was working up until a short time ago. It was abandoned within the last month. The “Arrow” hatch, which the “Tailies” found, doesn’t even look like it got stocked up. The observation (The Pearl) station looks like it’s been abandoned for quite some time.

Ah well… those are my thoughts about this for now. I’m with Eko….I think it’s important to keep pressing that button.
