Not sure why this is labeled “2/12/09”, since they refer to “The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham” (which airs next week). Anyway, here goes…

LOST – 316 – My Reaction and Theories

Spoilers ahead
I’m not going to do a blow-by-blow account of what happened on LOST “316”, but I will point out some things.
First, I thought it was great to see Jin in that Dharma outfit. From that, I think it’s pretty obvious that they’re in the same time period in which the Dharma Initiative existed, and that is how Daniel was able to warn Charlotte when she was a child to not to come back to the island.
We finally got a reasonable explanation for why Christian was wearing sneakers when Jack first saw him in “White Rabbit”. I alway preferred the theory that they were the same shoes we saw hanging from palm fronds in the jungle way back in Season 1, but it’ll have to do.
The plane “event” had some interesting parallels: Charlie was in the bathroom when the plane crashed, Ben was in the bathroom when the light hit; Kate was a prisoner when the plane crashed, this time Sayid was a prisoner… and I have to say, the person escorting Sayid sure reminded me of Ana Lucia.
Speaking of passengers – Was it just me, or did it seem like the guy in line in the airport (the same guy in the front of the plane with the rest of the Oceanic 5) seem like a “plant”…. like possibly for Charles Widmore?
And what the heck did Kate do with Aaron? Only one possibility I can think of – Kate brought Aaron to Cassidy Phillips, the person Sawyer was involved with after trying to con her. Why do I think that? I think that Clementine Phillips was the person that Sawyer wanted Kate to visit, and that’s possibly the only person Kate could have trusted.
I loved Frank’s reaction when he realized what might be happening on that plane.
Who did Hurley see that convinced him to go back? Did he get another visit from Charlie?
Why was Sayid going to Guam?
What was Ben up to? I think that was pretty obvious too – He was trying to get revenge by killing Penny Widmore, and ran into either Desmond or some of Widmore’s henchmen (maybe even Widmore himself). As to whether or not he killed Penny – Well, I sure hope not.
Now, Desmond… Where will he fit in? If Ben did kill Penny, then Desmond would stop at nothing to get Ben, even if it meant going back to the island. I think it’s more likely he’ll be manipulated into going back by Widmore, because he’ll find out that Ben wants to kill Penny. Either way, I think when Desmond returns, he’ll have revenge on his mind.
So – I have to ask: Did Ben actually make it back to the island? HOW did he make it back? I’ll probably have to go back and re-watch when he moved that wheel, but I swore he said that once he moved the island he wouldn’t EVER be able to go back. Now I’m thinking that just meant he wouldn’t have the resources to figure out how to go back, but I sure was thinking that he wouldn’t be able to return under any circumstances. … He was probably just lying. (What? Ben… LIE? What a shock!)
Well, those are my random thoughts after the show… What did you think of it?
LOST Theories – Matthew Abaddon

When Locke was in his wheelchair, “pre-island”, he met Matthew Abaddon. In that encounter, Abaddon told Locke to go on walkabout, and if he did, he would “owe him one”.
Locke is about due to re-encounter, Abaddon, don’t you think? But what will Locke be asked to do?
We know that Abaddon was instrumental in getting Daniel, Charlotte and Miles on to the island, and that the team of mercenaries that was sent to the island was sent there by Widmore. Does this make Abaddon Widmore’s right hand man, or is he something more than that?
We all know there’s some kind of weird supernatural force on the island, what with the smoke monster, dead relatives, and the never-aging Alpert. Dead 815ers have even shown up.
What if Matthew Abaddon is one of these people, only working for Widmore’s ends? Presumably Christian is working on the “good” side (and I’m still not completely convinced of that)… What if Abaddon is also dead, working on the “bad” side? I mean, all the dead folks don’t have to be good guys, do they?
There’s some evidence there’s a supernatural force that’s not good on the island, and that manifested itself in Robert when he turned the gun on Daniel… is this just an extension of the Smoke Monster protecting things? Could be, but I’m not so sure.
Anyway…
There’s nothing to support Abaddon theory so far other than a quick disappearance when he went to go see Hurley so, like all theories, this is very much conjecture…. What do you think?
The new episode of Lost, “316” starts in about 45 minutes… see you on the other side!

some spoilers in this… you’ve been warned
LOST – This Place Is Death

Spoilers ahead
Great episode! I liked everything about it… a few glimpses of things from the past, and some set-ups for the future.
We saw what was causing the island to hop around. Ben must be a lot stronger than he looks, because the “frozen donkey wheel” (as the producers called it) wasn’t set right. All that wobbling around causing the island to hop around, in time, and possibly otherwise. Now that Ben *and* Locke have touched that thing, I think First Rule Of Frozen Donkey Wheel is Don’t Touch Frozen Donkey Wheel! The big question is, where is Locke going to end up? How long will it take until he finds Ben?
I thought is was VERY interesting that Christian reminded Locke that HE was supposed to turn the wheel, not Ben. I wonder how that fits into the Grand Scheme? What difference would it make if Locke or Ben went? My question here isn’t so much “Why Locke?” as it is, “Why should Ben have stayed?”
And, as we suspected, Charlotte did spend some time on the island. (We also suspected Miles might have too…). She was able to leave the island with her mother, who denied that Charlotte was ever there… oh, and she probably met Dan when she was little too. When did that happen? Back when Dan in the tunnel just before they found the Wheel? Did Dan travel back again? Is he going to get stuck then, possibly even get caught up in The Purge of Dharma?
Did you notice how taken aback Ben was when Desmond said he was at the church to meet Faraday’s mother? Should be interesting to see how that plays out.
All in all, a great episode.
What did you think? Notice anything you’d like to add?

LOST Theories – Been On The Island Before?
Spoilers ahead
John over on the comments section of another post mentions a theory, that I thought I’d break out here, because it’s just too good not to:
Dan asked Miles if he was on the island before. Maybe he is Pierre Chang’s son, that we saw in the season opener. Also, Dan could be Charlottes father, since he was back in that same timeframe as well in the opener.
I think Miles being Chang’s son is very, very likely, and it certainly does mean he’s been on the island before.
Charlotte being Daniel’s daughter? Perhaps. In “Jughead” when Richard asks Daniel why he wouldn’t detonate the bomb, Daniel says “I’m in love with that woman sitting next to me, and I would never do anything to hurt her”. I’m not sure he’d say that if he were her father. I would expect something more like “I love that woman sitting next to me…” Same inference, but I think it would be more likely that he said it that way.
Now, maybe they’re not father and daughter… Maybe they’re really brother and sister! Neither of them would know that, it could explain their tie to the island, if Ms. Hawking is indeed Daniel’s mother, which has been speculated here before. I don’t think either of them knows this.
If Widmore picked these people to go to the island in the first place, wouldn’t he have picked those people because of their ties to the island, because they’d be the most likely to be able to deal with things? (Forget about the mercenaries… they’re just strong arms for Widmore, and a necessary evil to get Daniel, Charlotte and Miles there).
And while Ben probably knew who they all were because of Michael being on the boat, he might have already known all that before because of his ties to Dharma and Ms. Hawking.
So, what do you think about all this?
LOST – The Little Prince

Spoilers…. I warned you….
Not the best episode, but not the worst either. I have to say this really felt like a filler more than anything else. Maybe we could have called this one “The Nose Bleed Episode”.
Did you catch Daniel’s question to Miles when he found out about the nosebleed? Whether he’d been on the island before? Last season there was something that implied that Charlotte had been on the island before. Doesn’t explain why Juliette had a nosebleed though. Very weird sequence.
I was fooled by who the lawyer’s client was. I didn’t think it would end up being Ben. The biggest surprise was Jin was found…. He slept through all those flashes, so he has no idea what’s going on. He was pretty surprised to see Danielle, but I think everyone saw that coming as soon as those people on the boat spoke French.
I can’t recall what Danielle’s reaction was to meeting Jin for the first time…. Did she ever event meet Jin?
Wonder who was shooting at them when they were on the boat? Future versions of themselves, trying to keep them from heading where they were going?
Another question – Weren’t Sayid and Ben off to get Hurley? Well, where is he?
Lost tidbits:
Some of the numbers showed up again: 42 was the house number of Kate’s house; 23 was the number of the boat slip that Ben went to.
Oh, and “LOST: Untangled”? Maybe that spot during “Life of Mars” was supposed to be funny, but… yikes.
I’m glad Jin is back.
….a couple of questions answered…. so many new questions….
