Season 7 – 6 am to 8 am – Season Finale

Previously on 24, we found out that: Wearing a really bad wig makes it easier for people to remember you; Olivia can show a second emotion: completely freaked out; Janice proved that if you stab enough keys on a keyboard, you might do something useful; Kim really needs to learn to pick better people to talk to at the airport.

6 am – Olivia takes a phone call on the quickest “How Soon After The Beginning Of The Show Can We Do A Product Placement” ever. Seems that unlike in the real world, the deputy attorney general wants to debrief Olivia, which puts him at the end of a long line.

Her mother, Mrs. President, wants her in another briefing, and goes into detail on what happened during the last show. Things are happening pretty fast, but they appear to have had enough time to do a pretty amazing multimedia presentation behind her. She tells everyone in the room that Tony is the key to finding out about everything.

6:02 am – Jack continues to get information through his earpiece, and is told he’s going to need to take over the van. They’re pretty much watching Jack’s every move, which would be great idea for a plot, if it hadn’t already been done in the movie “Eagle Eye”.

6:05 am – At the airport, a lady and her son want to sit down, so Bob, the “I’m just going to the bathroom to kill someone” guy, has to move the spy camera briefcase he’s had open this whole time. It’s been taking pictures of Kim, and uploading them to YouTube. When he moves the briefcase, Kim notices that Bob’s got blood on his neck. He just blames the vampires he met in Sunnyvale, and goes to find something to clean it up with.

6:07 am – Evil woman finally has taken off her wig, and pulls over to take a phone call from Bob. Bob’s worried about the body he left behind in the restroom, and that he’s not going to be able to stuff it in his overhead bin without putting it into a plastic baggie first. Evil woman tells Bob that it won’t take long for Jack to deliver Tony.

6:08 am – In the FBI van, Jack asks for Renee’s iPhone, disables the “Your Friends At the FBI” app, and pulls a gun on Renee. To prove that he’s serious he FINALLY shoots someone in the thigh. Janice gets hysterical, and thinks that repeating Jack’s name over and over will somehow help.

Renee wants to know why Jack is doing this. He says it’d be pretty boring for the next two hours if all he did was take Tony prisoner, and besides, they have his daughter. Tony doesn’t want Jack to reveal any more plot points, and tells him to shut up as Janice and Chloe frantically try to help find where the van is headed.

James “JT” Thomas Winner of Survivor Tocantins

James “JT” Thomas won a unanimous decision made by the voted-off members of the jury on Survivor last night to claim the $1 million dollars.

The final four was surprising. Taj, Erinn, Stephen and JT were left at the end. After JT barely beat Erinn in a construction a puzzle, he won immunity. I think at that point, everyone thought Erinn was the next to go. Erinn talked to JT and convinced him that Taj was a bigger threat than she was. How she was able to convince him of that, I’m not really sure… especially considering Erinn nearly beat JT in that challenge.

Voting off Taj could have been a serious mistake. As Taj said herself, if Erinn went into the finals, that’s who would have gotten her vote. If Erinn had somehow gotten into the finales, the majority of her tribe was on the panel, and she might have been able to convince them she was a true “survivor”.

As it turned out, that didn’t happen. In the final challenge, balls were dropped in a device that made them go down different wire paths. They had to catch the balls as they fell out out of two chutes. The balls alternated between the two. Oh, and they had to do it with one hand tied behind their backs. As the challenge progressed, more balls were added. Erinn was the first to go, followed by Stephen. JT was the winner.

Side note…. was it just me, or did it look to anyone else like Stephen used the hand that was tied behind his back to save on of the balls before it hit the ground?

Erinn did her best to put some doubt in JT’s mind and tried to convince him to vote her into the finals. That would have been a serious mistake. Taj said she would have voted for Erinn. I think Coach probably would have voted for her as well, because in his eyes, JT would have broken the “warrior alliance”.

Lots of tough questions during the finale tribal council, making both JT and Stephen feel uncomfortable. JT admitted afterwards (during the wrap-up show) that his apparent shock at being “betrayed” was a bit of acting, and that he and Stephen are still good friends. JT even suggested that they go into business together, which really surprised Stephen. Stephen’s initial reaction was “no”, which I think meant “no, it’s your money, do what you want with it”.

The rest of the tribe might have been able to be convinced that Erinn should win, just because of tribal alliances. One thing they didn’t show last night was a show of hands about who would have voted for Erinn, which would have been nice.

JT also won an additional $100,000, awarded by Sprint, for being the most popular “Survivor”.

LOST Statue – Sobek

Here are a couple of pictures of the statue show in the LOST finale. As commenters in the previous thread have stated, it’s very likely that it’s the Egyptian god Sobek:

Now, two interesting things about Sobek – he’s carrying an ankh, which represents the ability to undo evil and cure ills.

Also, Sobek merged himself with Ra, to become Sobek-Ra.

Think about that a second. Where else have we seen the letters “R” “A” – Richard Alpert, perhaps?

LOST Season 5 Finale – The Incident


BIG Spoilers ahead

Wow! What an episode, huh? After years of hearing about Jacob and seeing nothing of him at all, in the finale, he’s all over the place! He met with everyone that was left, except Miles. It appears he was even the one that brought Locke back, after he’s fall from the building.

I’m not going to recap the show, but I will point out some things.

The Statue


First, that statue – That was of Anubis, the Egyptian go who protected the dead and brings them to the afterlife, also considered the gatekeeper and ruler of the underworld.

Jacob and His Nemesis


Jacob was wearing a white shirt, the other person was wearing a black shirt. (The personification of Good and Evil?)

By now, I think it’s clear to everyone that the guy at the beginning who was looking for a “loophole”, was disguised at Locke. Locke was indeed dead, and possibly very much like Christian Shepard – although I must admit it was NOTHING like what what we’ve been lead to believe all this time. Since this entity can shape shift, I think it’s likely that the person Ben saw after being scanned by the smoke monster wasn’t Alex – it was that same entity.

Now, that brings up a good question – When has this entity been around, and when was it really the spirit of the dead we’ve been seeing?

In other words, was Charlie really Charlie when Hurley saw him after they came back to the island?
In Charlie’s case, I think it was, for the simple reason that Jacob wasn’t surprised or concerned when he heard Hurley talk about these visits.

Now, Christian is a completely different story. I think the Christian Shepard we’ve been seeing from time to time is indeed the spirit of Jack’s dad – almost all the time. The one incident that leads me to believe it wasn’t really him was the scene where Locke went to go see Jacob, and found Christian and Claire instead. I’m pretty sure that was Jacob’s nemesis. I think it’s probable that the whole scene at the cabin where Locke met “Jacob” and he said “help me” was staged too… it was probably Jacob’s nemesis.

What about that cabin, and the ash circle? Was it keeping Jacob in, or the other guy Jacob was talking to at the beginning? What was it that Ilana was looking for? How did she know to look there?

We FINALLY found out what happened to them, and I think I liked where they ended up. Glad the writer’s finally told us where they’ve been all this time.

Ben, Ben, Ben…. Hoo boy, you made a pretty big mistake… wonder how he’s going to react when he realizes what he’s just REALLY done? And why didn’t he pause for a minute to realize there was a bit more going between “Locke” and Jacob?

I was sad to see her go. What a way to go at the end though!

Destiny

With Jacob dead, if he indeed can die, the destiny of the Oceanic folks seems to be to battle whatever entity is now free to take over now. What’s going to happen next?

Well, there are two possibilities –

1) If Jack and Faraday were right about the H-Bomb reseting the timeline, then the whole incident of Ben stabbing Jacob will never take place. But if that happened, then what next? Where could they possibly take the story from here?

2) If it didn’t reset the timeline, will the island transport them to 2004 to do battle with Jacob’s nemesis?

I think #2 is much more likely.

Before LOST Season 5 Finale – Some Theories


Wow! I can’t believe it’s already the end of season five of LOST. Tonight’s two hour season finale is bound to have a lot of surprises, some overdue answers and a lot of action.

John Locke

First in foremost, as self-assured as he is going into this final show of the season, I think John Locke in for a rude awakening. First, I think we’ll find out that Ben was right: “Dead is Dead” – John’s been dead ever since he came back to the island, in the very same way that Christian is dead, and (most likely) Claire is dead. I think we got a big hint about this when Claire’s house blew up, and she was pulled from underneath the pile of debris that was on top of her. At that point, I think she was dead. Her sudden disappearance, her appearance with Christian in the cabin, and her visit with Aaron at Kate’s house all point to her being dead. If she didn’t realize this herself, why would it be different for John?

Second, I think his plan to kill Jacob is going to turn out to be a bust that won’t end well. He’ll either be stopped when he’s confronted with the fact that he’s dead and he’ll find out that he himself is Jacob already. None of the others (with the possible exception of Richard Alpert) realize this.

I also think Locke is going to have to confront Matthew Abaddon’s request, and it’s not going to be something he likes.

Richard Alpert

How old IS Richard Alpert? He’s either one of the dead people crawling around the island, or he’s a couple of thousand years old. Maybe both.

I think he’s Egyptian, and has been playing dumb this whole time, waiting for exactly the right circumstances to put his real plan into motion, which is to take over the island and use it to his own ends. Jacob might be the only person/thing preventing him from doing this, and Locke might be the person who unwittingly helps him do so.

Yep – Completely out of left field, but hey, it’s a theory.

The Incident


I think it’s pretty clear that “The Incident” has to do with the hydrogen-bomb. If the bomb itself doesn’t go off, it’s at least going to leak some radiation which is why the people in The Hatch were taking medicine. It’s anti-radiation medicine. It also explains the hazmat suits they were wearing.

Question is, what’s going to happen when Jack tries to set off the bomb? We’ve seen in past episodes that if the island (or something on the island) doesn’t want something to happen, it can prevent it. Remember all the people that tried to hurt themselves? They couldn’t do it. I think Jack’s going to run into this exact problem. He won’t be able to set off the bomb, because the island won’t allow it. I do think that someone (or something) else is going to set that off, thus causing The Incident.

In the end, they’ll build The Hatch, and will build the computer that has a console where the numbers have to be pressed every 108 minutes. (Side note: Since it’s the serial number of That Hatch that is typed in each time, do you think it’s possible there are additional stations where people are pressing buttons, using their hatch’s serial number?)

The question then becomes – what happens to the Jack, Kate and the rest of the folks in 1977? I think the island is going to do what it did before on the plane. They’re going to be plucked from this timeline into the past. Probably the very distant past, likely at the time when things were in full swing on the island. Who are they going to meet there? Maybe Locke, maybe different versions of themselves…. I think this is a good possibility because of The Statue we haven’t had a good look at yet.

(Another side note: The Four Toe thing? I think someone’s foot is going to get hurt, they’ll lose a toe – if that happens on the show tonight, or if we see someone with a missing toe, you can bet they’ll be person depicted as the statue).

Loose Ends

There are so many unanswered questions –

What do the numbers mean? (The only thing I can think of is that this is some ancient sequence used in some formula, discovered back when the island was in full swing).

Was Widmore behind Libby giving Desmond the boat, and did he do this just to get rid of Desmond? (Yes on both counts)

Is it going to matter that Penny and Daniel are half brother and sister? (Probably not)

Is the old guy that Jack visited in the old folk’s home… is that really Jack himself? (I think it is).

The Statue? I think it’s Richard Alpert.
