Season 7 – “24” – 11pm to 12 am

Previously on 24: Tripp from Star Trek: Enterprise beamed away just at the right time; Renee was left in a holding room, completely unable to communicate with anyone, except via a cell phone that was left behind; Jack exposed himself.

11:00 pm – Out in the middle of the street, several of the Intel bunny suit guys have come to Jack’s rescue, and they’re trying to help him. Having just exposed himself to the deadly gas, Jack exposes himself to one of the doctors, who goes completely speechless. Jack covers this by saying they must be looking at his scars.

11:01 pm – Meanwhile, back at FBI headquarters, Larry is exposed to another agent that’s toxic on the nerves – Janis. Larry explains everything that happened last show, and wants Janis to help gather information on Starkwood.

11:02 pm – The completely inconspicuous helicopter carrying the completely inconspicuous deadly nerve agent arrives at Starkwood, exactly at the same time as the car carrying Tony, which either means they have really slow helicopters, or really fast cars. Maybe both. Jonas is convinced that Tony won’t talk, because he’s seen the show before, and he’s read several pages ahead in the script. Jonas gives one of his henchmen a scary pep talk, and they drive off in yet another truck, with the tanks completely uncovered, which is the best way to sneak things past everyone that’s looking for them.

11:05 pm – The thugs beat up on Tony, who’s doing a very credible impersonation of a punching bag. Jonas tries to sweet talk Tony, but it doesn’t do any good. Tony is not talking. One of Jonas’ men, Greg, thinks it would be a good idea to destroy all the evidence – To say that Jonas is not on board… well, let’s put it this way, Jonas is so off board on this he could do a swan dive at any moment.

LOST – “He’s Our You” – Recap and Theories

As usual, spoilers ahead

A Sayid-centric episode, which we haven’t had yet this season. The last one we saw when he had become a hired gun for Ben. I expected that this would be Sayid’s last episode, not so much because of what happened during this episode… more of the way they did all the previews.

It might sound a little backward, but usually in a show when they make a big deal about something, it usually doesn’t end up happening, at least not the way they planned. When they had that vote, I was pretty convinced Sayid wasn’t going to die tonight.

I do think it was pretty predictable that Sayid was going to shoot Ben. The big question: Is Ben really dead now? For quite a while now, we’ve had “they can’t change the past” has been beat into our heads, so the obvious answer would be no.

But my theory? He really is dead. The Others are going to do something to bring him back.

Random thoughts on tonight’s show:

– So THAT’S where Larry (of Larry, Darryl and Darryl
fame) has been all this time – He’s on the island!

– Ben was the one that sent that flaming car into the building… surprising for a 12-year old (if he’s really is as old as Sayid said)

– Did they have hand-held tasers back in 1977? Yep. There are some pages out there that said it was created in 1988, but it was created back in the 1970s, by Jack Cover.

– I thought that Ilana was working for Widmore, but it turns out she was working for the family of Peter Avalino, the guy that Sayid shot on the golf course.

– That call to Ann Arbor? That was to talk to the DeGroots, I’d wager.

– Ben heard Sayid talking to Jin. That’s bad news, if Ben really does come back.

– Where in the world is Sayid headed now?

And it looks like people are starting to put two and two together, at least from the previews of next week. Jack and a few others are under house arrest. Probably about time too, since people should be a little suspicious by now. Think about it: 1) Juliet, a garage mechanic for Dharma, ends up delivering a baby; 2) Kate has a mixup with her manifest, only to have Juliet come to the rescue; 3) Phil, even if he is as dim-witted as Sawyer says, should be a bit weirded-out that Jack wanted to talk to “LaFleur” on the first day he came to the island.

I really think the whole story starts to fall apart with #1 above, and if Horace thinks about it, it should be clear…. UNLESS Dharma reassigns people to completely new jobs. I’d say that would be a pretty weird thing to do, so I’m going with the theory that Horace will start putting 2 and 2 together pretty soon.

What did you think of tonight’s episode?

Season 7 – 24 – 10 pm to 11 pm

Last time on 24, we found out that: Jack has special training in all variety of weapons, including dirt movers; People who were wrong about Jack, who find that out and want to help, usually end up dead; Olivia is either not a sleazy weasel, or she is a sleazy weasel. We’re not sure which yet.

10:00 pm – Outside Senator Foreman’s house, the Senator is being paid by “24” to stay really still while Agent Larry looks things over.

10:01 pm – Ethan gets a phone call from Larry, who tells him that the Senator is now in line for the Dead Senator Sketch. Ethan gets so upset that he forgets his lines, and Agent Larry has to coax him into talking.

10:02 pm – Jack gets on the phone with Tony, and recaps everything that happened up until now. Jack talks fast, because a lot of things have happened. They agree to meet.

10:05 pm – Mrs. President talks to the First Manny, who’s in a hospital bed trying to move some facial muscles to express his happiness that Olivia is back. He can barely move, which kind of begs the question about how he got his hands on the phone in the first place.

10:06 pm – Mrs. President is riding high on the phone call from the First Manny, so of course Ethan has to bring her down to earth by telling her that one of her fellow cast members on the show is playing dead. Ethan also takes this opportunity to make sure he never has to work with Olivia again – he resigns. He uses the excuse that he let Jack be released, but we all know that he doesn’t want to work with Olivia. There’s lots of talk of agendas, legacies, and some creepy hand holding, but she finally accepts.

Battlestar Galactica Final Episode

Spoilers ahead
First, let me say that I started watching BSG really late… As in, “last summer late”. I watched each episode through Netflix and DVDs, and caught up to the final season in time to watch all of those.

I don’t think I ever really “got” what other people enjoyed in this show, but I do have to say that I did enjoy most of the finale episode last night. Just about everything was resolved, although I’m not sure what the “angel” Caprica 6 and Baltar were around 150,000 years after they landed on the new earth. I’m also not sure why Cavil blew his brains out instead of going out while trying to take everyone else with him. Also not quite sure why Adama felt the need to isolate himself at the end either. The “let’s charge the weapons just in case/accidental firing of those same weapons” was a bit hokey… And I never did like Rosalyn’s character – probably even less so last night.

As far as the rest goes, I enjoyed it, and the choices that were made. I really liked how Moore pulled together the cathedral sequences, I liked that Tory finally got what she got coming to her, I liked the way that Kara’s story line was resolved. Especially that, I think – staring us right in the face the whole time, and I didn’t have any idea that might be what was going on.

It was a fitting ending to the series. What about you die hard BSG fans? What did you think?

LOST – “Namaste” – Thoughts about The Show

lost_poster

Spoilers ahead
Not much time to write, but I did want to post a few thoughts about the show:

It was great to see what else was going on when the plane went down. I was quite surprised to see that Sun was still in the present day, rather than in the past with the rest of the Oceanic Six. I was even more surprised to see that Christian was the one that met Frank and Sun when they reached the barracks. Next stop? The only thing I can think of is that they’ll have to find (or, more likely, be found by) Richard Alpert.

If Ben originally tried to leave the camp, he’s going to head out again as soon as he can, especially with Locke being alive again.

Sayid seeing Ben, and then saying “I know why I’m here” in the previews for next week pretty much confirms for me that he’ll try and kill the young Ben as soon as he can. He’s going to fail, and I’m afraid that’s going to be the end of Sayid. I think that’s a shame.

Love Hurley’s reaction when he found out he was in the 1970s.

So, are the folks from the 1970s going to be transported into the future, or are the present day folks going to be transported into the past… or will something else happen? I’m guessing that they’ll both be pulled out of their timelines, and sent further into the past.

What do you think?

Season 7 – 24 – 9pm to 10pm

Last time on “24”, we saw that: Bill went to visit Edgar; The White House has no emergency backup power generator if the lights go out; Hospitals with important patients don’t have very high security; If Jack tells you not to move, you shouldn’t move; If you offer Olivia a job, chances are pretty good she’ll turn on you; Jack will go limp if you feed him an Alka-Seltzer, but can revive so quickly that he’ll jump through a ceiling to follow a bad guy.

9:00 pm – Jack runs to hide from the police, and happens to find a car old enough that he can smash through it with his elbow. He breaks out his laptop, which happens to be a Mac, which in 24 is traditionally the good guy computer.

9:01 pm – Morris is being tortured at FBI headquarters! Oh, wait, he’s talking to Janis – it’s worse than torture! Morris is trying to find out where Chloe is, and after going ’round and ’round, Janis finally tells him that Chloe is under arrest. Janis tells Morris to wait in the conference room.

9:02 pm – Larry calls Janis, who appears to have taken over Renee’s role. Renee is busy talking to the FBI human resources guy, who tries to go over the FBI policy of cutting down to only shooting three people a day, now that she’s on suspension. Renee listens in to Janis’ conversation, and it’s pretty much a recap of what we already know from last hour, which is Burnett is dead, and Jack took off. Janis recaps this again to Renee, just in case any of the viewers dozed off while it was explained the first time.

Season 7 – 24 – 8pm to 9pm

Last week – Steve was on assignment in…. Los Angeles! It was just like it’s always been depicted on 24, except: The traffic is much, much worse; hardly any cars flip over; there were no signs of thigh shootings; it is much, much larger than it appears on TV.

Jack Bauer must still be in Washington, because he was nowhere to be seen.

I’m beginning to think all this “24” stuff might be fake.

Previously on 24: Jack’s attempt to come out of the secure room and kill everyone by using odor from his armpit fails; Juma threatened to do impromptu surgery on Olivia; Senator Red Foreman got close up look at non-theoretical hostage situation, which still hasn’t changed his mind about Jack.

8:00 pm – VP Hayworth, watching Dora the Explorer from his secret location is interrupted by a phone call from Agent Larry. Hayworth and his assistant recap all the events surrounding the capture of the President, bringing us up to speed on what a bozo he’s been so far.

8:02 pm – President Taylor is with Olivia, who has discovered a way to cry without tears. President Taylor has a bloodstain on her mouth, which looks like a huge cold sore. None of the captured secret service agents feel it is their place to tell her about this, even though it’s the size of a VW Bug.

8:03 pm – Jack tells Bill that he wants to use natural gas to blow up the room as a diversion. Bill looks over at Senator Red Foreman, but Jack explains that’s not what he meant. Jack says the secure room he was just in just happened to have canisters of gas in it, in case the White House ran short on natural gas, or needed to make the room very secure. Jack’s plan is to run in there and blow it up, hopefully taking a few of Juma’s men with him. Senator Red Foreman wants to know what this plan is, but Jack tells him to shut up.

LOST – “LaFleur” – Thoughts About Tonight’s Show

Spoilers ahead

Some thoughts on tonight’s episode of LOST – “LaFleur” –

  • Loved the statue, even if we just saw it from the back. From the arms, it looked like a female. It looked like it had a crown of some kind too. If she were accidently whipped WAY back in time, would they consider her a “god”, and build that statue? Could this be one of the LOST women? Kate, Juliet, Sun? Maybe they’ll build it after that person dies, as a monument.
  • New Dharma logos on the clothes – I saw a star, a wrench..
  • The guys in the observation station sure are scared of Sawyer – Did you see he was head of security?
  • Which version of Ben killed his Father?
  • Women on the island can have children. Is this because they conceive off the island, and then come back? Or has the reason they can’t have children in the present day not happened yet? My friend John suggested the reason women can’t have children may be because of the poison gas that was released to kill all of Dharma.
  • Why was Paul killed? Just because The Others found them at a picnic, or because they strayed out of the compound when they agreed not to? They’re certainly not primitives – they had walkie talkies.
  • Why did Amy insist on bringing Paul back? Just because he was her husband? Because she knew what they would do with his body? Or was it because she didn’t want to leave evidence that they were out of the compound?
  • The fence can be bypassed with ear plugs? Really??
  • Juliet delivers the baby…. Isn’t that going to be REALLY suspicious, since she apparently never admitted to being an obstetrician?
  • Jin can speak fluent English now
  • It was cool to see Charlotte as a small child
  • Richard Alpert – What does Juliet really know about that guy? Anything? She must not, because she probably would have told Sawyer by now.
  • Why is there a truce? Why didn’t The Others get rid of Dharma altogether?
  • LOVED how Sawyer talked to Alpert.
  • How is giving Paul’s body going to give The Others “justice”?
  • That sub going back and forth… If the island is moving all the time, how is the submarine finding them? Do they have to recalculate where the island is all the time, or is there a pattern?
  • Why didn’t Juliet leave after the two weeks? Was she really convinced by Sawyer that quickly?
  • Is Sawyer REALLY over Kate? I sure don’t think so.
  • Interesting that Paul’s necklace is an Egyptian symbol.
  • I really like the way they’re thought of letting us know more about The Dharma Initiative.

Really looking forward to the next episode! Looks like lots of action.
