Theory about the one-eyed man on LOST

I know it’s been a while since the first six episodes of LOST have aired, but tonight’s the night it all starts back up again: The “Others”, the smoke monster, people on the beach that we haven’t seen for two seasons becoming part of the regular cast.. Can you tell I’m getting punchy?

Anyway, I’d been thinking about the one-eyed man that Locke saw on the video monitor. He’s probably the owner of the glass eye that was hidden in the book. If you recall, there was also something else found with that glass eye. The portion of the film that was missing from the “Orientation” movie that was in the hatch.

So, let’s think about this a minute. The guy with the glass eye had the portion of the film that warned people NOT to use the computers for anything other than punching those numbers in. Why would he have taken something like that?

We know that the first “incident” caused something to happen in the hatch which prompted the Dharma Initiative to make the film warning not to communicate with anyone, which they hoped would stop another “incident”. Was this because the people in the hatch before Desmond got there nearly made everything implode too?

I think it’s clear that by taking out that portion of the film, the person that did it wanted whatever happened before to happen again. The question is, is that a good thing, or a bad thing? Is the one-eyed man trying to help or not?

I’m not really sure we can tell at this point. On the one hand, he does seem to be operating outside of the influence of the “Others”. I can’t think of another reason he would have been hanging around the bunker where the Tailies found the glass eye and film; he was hiding. He seems to be sabotaging their plans, which may be a good thing.

On the other hand, what if what The Others are trying to do is really important? What if the one-eyed man is creeping around the island trying to stop them from what every good work they’re trying to do?

Just something to think about before the last part of the season starts.

Michael Emerson talks about what it’s like to be on Lost

The Honolulu Star-Bulletin has a great article on Michael Emerson, the actor that plays Henry Gale/Benjamin Linus on Lost. It talks about his background in theater, what the differences are between being an actor on TV and an actor on stage, and how he approaches acting roles.

He also reveals a few hints about what’s coming next in Lost:

“He’s vulnerable now,” he said, referring to the trauma under Jack’s surgical knife that could lead to Ben’s demise. “There’s much more operating room drama to come; the operation has even more complications that lead to a number of crises,” he added, carefully choosing his words. New, powerful characters also will be introduced, and “there will be a struggle for power within the Others’ community.” Then he paused and smiled. “I have to be cagey about what I say.”

Rumors of Jack’s Death on Lost

You might have been hearing the rumors about Jack getting killed off on the show next year when it returns. Are you worried about that happening?

Just to alleviate your fears, there’s a New York Post article today that talks about it. The show’s writers dismiss this completely and say that “This is the most insane rumor regarding ‘Lost’ to date”.

You can breathe again.

What was the plan for Mr. Eko?

Spoilers ahead!

There are a number of stories out this morning after Mr. Eko’s death last night. The New York Post as a some quotes from the producers about Eko’s demise, and MSNBC has an article that discusses Mr. Eko’s impact on the show.

I’m sure this was all planned out in advance, but it sure seems like if someone gets in trouble with the law in real life, their characters aren’t far away from dying on the show.

I told a friend last night that I think Bernard is going to be pretty upset about Eko’s death… After all, he’s the last one from the tail section that hasn’t been killed or captured.

I think it’s also pretty clear that the theory that “Smokey the Cloud” can manifest itself as a real creature, whether it be Jack’s dad, Kate’s horse, Walt, or Eko’s brother Yemi… well, I think that theory just got a lot stronger.

A theory about what’s going on with Desmond

What the heck is going on with Desmond? I have an idea, but there are a few theories that I’d like to go over first.

Hurley shot one down right away… Desmond is NOT the Hulk, despite is lack of pants. And thank goodness for that anyway, it would be pretty disappointing for Desmond to go all “Bill Bixby

Lost Search Engine

I added a special Lost Search engine that uses Google Search and helps give more specialized results for when you’re searching for things related to LOST. It’s available on the right hand side of the page.

I’ll continue to improve the results by adding more Lost sites to the list it searches, so if you know of a good site, add it to the comments section below, and I’ll add suggestions to the list!

What Factions Are There In The Others Camp?

Spoilers ahead, so if you haven’t seen all the shows up to Season 3, episode 2, don’t read this…

Wednesday we’re going to hit the third episode of Season three. We have a pretty good sense there are different factions within The Others camp, but we still don’t know for sure which Others are lined up with each other.

We do have a pretty good hint about Alexandra; she helped Claire escape from The Staff station (the medical facility), and she is trying to figure out what happened to Karl. If she were totally “in line” with whomever is really in charge, she probably wouldn’t have done that either of those things.

Danny and Colleen are pretty chummy and they both seem to be completely on board with whatever Ben says.

Ben has a “I guess I’m not in the book club” and “You never make soup for me” attitude with Juliet, and frankly it’s a little annoying. Ok, we get it! Ben’s being snotty with Juliet. Woop de doo.

From the scene in the book club meeting, Juliet seems pretty darn fed up with people cow-towing to Ben.

…And that’s just this group of people at the Hydra station. There might even be “Other Others” elsewhere on the island.

Anyway, the thing that’s a little creepy about how Juliet is handling the whole thing is that while she’s not in Ben’s pocket, she sure is carrying out the orders. I thought it was a little disturbing when Sawyer said that Juliet would have “no problem” shooting Kate.

Lost has a habit of introducing characters that aren’t exactly what they first appear to be. Is Juliet, who seems sympathetic now going to turn out to be a really nasty character? Is Ben going to turn out to be better than he appears to be right now?

Things you might have missed in Episode 2

Here are a few things that happened during Lost Season 3 Episode 2, “The Glass Ballerina”, that you might have missed:

Lost Spoilers Ahead

You’ve been warned….

The dock where Sayid tied up the sailboat is called the Pala Ferry. This is the same dock named in the Pearl orientation video.

The girl that talked to Kate from the bushes is named Alexandra; she’s Danielle’s (The French Woman’s) daughter. Alexandra cryptically mentioned to Kate that “You’re not even supposed to be in that cage

Is This Why Locke Ended Up in a Wheelchair?

In the last Locke flashback episode, we saw a couple of thugs come to find out where their money was. Locke’s father was long gone by the end of the episode.

So, we know that Locke ended up in a wheelchair, but how did he end up there? Did the guys that were looking for their money find out that Locke was involved in recovering it? That would be the obvious thing, which is exactly why I don’t think that’s what is going to happen.

There’s been a strong theme throughout Lost that the “Lost-aways
